William L. Clements Library

About

I am an Information Resources Assistant for the William L. Clements Library. Researchers should come to me if they have general questions about the Library’s policies or collections—I’ll either have the answer or I will seek out the person who does!

Background

During my four years as a political science undergrad at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), I worked as a student assistant in the residence hall libraries. In 2007, after realizing that I wanted to continue working in libraries, I began taking classes to obtain my master’s degree from UIUC’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science while working full-time at the Graduate Library Circulation Desk. In July of 2009 I moved to Michigan and have been working at the William L. Clements Library ever since!

Responsibilities

My main responsibility in the Clements Library reading room is to assist patrons in accessing the collections while ensuring the safe handling of the invaluable materials. I am the person who will retrieve the collection items and make sure they are safely back on the shelf once the researcher is finished with them. When I am not assisting readers I work on curator-appointed projects, such as portrait print cataloging.
