William L. Clements Library
Ann Rock
Director of Development
About
I have been Director of Development for the Clements Library since February 2009 and am honored to be the first to hold that position. I have a 15-year career in development and fundraising. I am fortunate to be working with the Clements Library because of its strong reputation in American history and its vision to build collections, membership, and accessibility.
Background
I graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in History. My background is in raising funds for education, outreach, and capital for a number of arts and culture organizations and educational institutions. I have been very active in a number of organizations, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Historical Museum, the Michigan Museums Association and Wayne State University Press. I grew up visiting museums and going to the library at least once a week. My goal is to visit museums and libraries in all 50 states and each Canadian province.
Responsibilities
Our Development group works to raise funds for acquisitions, fellowships, curatorships, programming, and endowment. This includes our campaigns for Annual Appeal, Adopt a Piece of History, Planned Giving, and Clements Associates Memberships. We also work to plan tours and lectures at the Library.
