Meg Hixon

Project Archivist

About

I am a Project Archivist with the Manuscripts Division. I create online finding aids for the department's unprocessed manuscripts collections. My interests include history (pretty much all of it), science fiction, and the pursuits of a number of athletic teams. I also work as an usher at Michigan Stadium during football games.

Background

I graduated with a B. A. in History and English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts in 2008, and with a Master's of Science in Information from the University of Michigan's School of Information in 2011. During my time at the School of Information, I worked as an assistant in the Clements Library's Manuscripts Division.

Responsibilities

In my current grant-funded position, I am responsible for writing and encoding finding aids for the manuscript division's unprocessed collections. A typical day may take me from the mid-18th century into the Second World War. I work closely with students from the School of Information, undergraduate students, and volunteers to obtain as much information as is possible about various collections and to ensure that our materials are accessible to researchers.
