Colonial Photography—Viewfinder on the Past

Timeless Activities and Scenes

The 19th century inclination towards romantic nostalgia encouraged photographers to seek timeless scenes and activities with settings that harkened back to the colonial era. Aside from the 19th century clothing, these pictures provide a vivid feel for many aspects of daily colonial life.
