Several letters written by an aged Civil War veteran of the 13th Wisconsin and pioneer South Dakota politician, Newton Kingman. The letters provide little information on his life experiences, however a commemorative biographical pamphlet produced for his 90th birthday includes excellent accounts of his participation in the Civil War and of his early days homesteading in South Dakota
