The University of Michigan Barrett Family Papers |
Papers, 1850-1866
122 items
The Barrett letters consist of correspondence between Sarah Anna Hillard and her fiancé (later husband), J.C. Barrett, and between these two and various friends and family members. They cover the usual "family correspondence" topics of health, sickness, religion, children, travels, family and neighborhood events, and work, with no particularly detailed information on any topic. The pre-marriage letters from Barrett to Hillard document a "genteel" courtship.
