A miscellaneous collection of photographs and ephemera relating retired U of M Professor of Mineralogy, E. William Heinrich, his parents and paternal uncle. Included in the collection is a fine photographic album kept by his father during his service in the German army in Serbia during the First World War, an Iron Cross (3d class), a letter box, and Heinrich's uncle's beer stein, given to members of the Kaiser's elite Garde-Kurassier. There are a large number of photographs of the Henirch family after emigration the United States (1923), on a return trip to Germany in 1930, on a trip to the Chicago World's Fair (1933), and miscellaneous other photos. Other items include Heinrich's walking stick used during ha 1930 walking tour of southern Germany and Switzerland, and items relating to the boats and route taken on the German tour.Heinrich also collected postcards and other ephemera, and this collection includes a large number of postcards collected at the 1933 and 1939 (New York) World's Fairs, a set of Bonzo-Dog postcards, five postcards with views of Ellis Island, and a large number of miscellaneous German postcards collected in 1930.
