Nogales, Ariz., 8 items
Sgt. Major Harry Hargreaves of the 1st Connecticut Infantry was assigned to Camp Stephen Little in Nogales, Ariz., during the time of the Punitive Expedition against Pancho Villa's Mexican "bandits." Hargreaves' eight letters -- all written to his mother and step-father -- contain no content relative to the expedition itself, but he provides excellent descriptions of his trip west (June 29th), of rifle training at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., and some very good sketches of the west and westerners and of life in the border army camps.
