Biographical information:

John Anthony Winston, governor of Alabama, 1853-1860, was a successful cotton planter. In the early 1830's he founded a commission-merchant company trading in cotton.

Scope and Contents:

Papers of the J. A. Winston Company of Mobile, Ala.

This collection contains routine business correspondence with the company's customers, orders for shipments of cotton, and a few accounts.
