Letters of Carl Van Doren, American historian.

This collection contains the correspondence between Carl Van Doren and members of the Clements Library staff relating to his research during 1939-1941 in preparation for his Secret History of the American Revolution (New York, 1941). It includes the manuscript and proofs for the book as well as the manuscript of Van Doren's Hopwood Lecture, 'The First American Man of Letters: Benjamin Franklin.'
