Scope and Contents:

Two manuscript notebooks kept by William Bentinck, British naval officer, 95 pp. and 89 pp.

These notebooks record two voyages. The first was by H.M.S. Atlanta from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Charlotte Town, Prince Edward Island, July and August, 1784; the second voyage was by H.M.S. Felicity from Halifax to Cape Breton Island in 1784. Also included are a portion of H.M.S. Temeraire's log for 1800 and sailing instructions for a number of North American and West Indian harbors.
