Biographical information:

Andrew Adams was a prominent attorney and politician in Litchfield, Conn. A graduate of Yale, he was elected to the Connecticut General Assembly in 1776 and was selected as a delegate to the Continental Congress from 1777 to 1780. After the war he was appointed to the Connecticut Supreme Court and became Chief Justice in 1793, filling that position until his death four years later.


Scope and Contents:

The Andrew Adams Papers consists primarily of letters addressed to Adams by his legal clients and colleagues.
