Civil War-era correspondence between a young man and his ever affectionate wife. Charlie Arnold appears to have been employed by the military as a carpenter (?) at the conscript camp in New London, at Fort Trumbull, and, at the very end of the war, in northern Virginia. The letters to and from his wife offer very little information on his activities, but do provide a glimpse of a very intimate, loving relationship between a husband and wife separated by the war. There is some suggestion the Charlie Arnold was not fit for military duty.
