This carte de visite of a middle aged couple is entirely unidentified, but is mounted on a card that seems most likely to have been produced early in the Civil War. Both the man and woman look familiar to the Curator, setting off bells that they might be abolitionists or reformers, but no positive attribution has yet been made. A distinguished looking Bostonian, this man looks even more familiar than the couple depicted above. The carte de visite was taken by Francis Capen (215 Washington Street, Boston) between 1864 and 1866. Does he look familiar to you, too?
