Registration policies:
- The collections of the Clements Library are available for research purposes to all registered readers.
- Readers enter by the north entrance in the back of the library (facing Hatcher Graduate Library) and register in the lower lobby.
- Two pieces of identification are required for registration, including at least one with a recent photograph.
- Readers will be interviewed by Reader Services staff.
Reading room policies:
- Researchers may bring only writing paper, pencils, and laptop computer into the reading room. These items will be checked by the reading room supervisor. Secure lockers are available at no cost.
- Food, beverages, and chewing gum are absolutely prohibited.
- Computer terminals for accessing the Mirlyn system and card catalogs for the Book, Manuscript, Map, and Photograph Divisions are located in the reading room, along with general reference works. Curators are available for consultation.
- Call slips are presented to the reading room supervisor, and material will be brought to readers.
- Readers are required to use great care in handling library materials. The reading room supervisor is available for instruction or assistance.
- Requests for material are accepted until 4:00 pm, and all material must be returned at 4:45 pm.

Photoduplication Policies
- Photocopies, microfilm, photographs, slides, and transparencies of Clements material may be requested. Reproductions are provided at the discretion of the Curators and the Director.
- Copies are prepared for the use of individual readers only and may not be deposited in other institutions. Under normal circumstances, all negatives, transparencies, and microfilm are retained by or must be returned to the Library.
- Payment is due when reproductions are received.
- Arrangements for mailing or picking up material are made on an individual basis with the Curators.
- Photo-duplication order forms are available from the individual Curators or in pdf format at the Clements' mail station.
- Information on orders may be requested via surface mail, or fax (734) 647-0716.
- Requests for permission to publish Clements material in any format are submitted for approval to the Library Director. Publication fees are normally assessed except for scholarly articles and monographs, or for non-profit use.
Photoduplication Fees
Photocopies:
- A $10.00 service fee is assessed on all orders; copies are $1.00 per exposure.
Microfilm:
- The Library does not sell microfilm. Fees are $75.00 per reel for a three-month loan. Upon request, renewals may be extended for another three months without additional charge.
Transparencies:
- 2x2 mounted slides, color or black and white, $15.00 each (availability dependent upon resources).
- 4x5 color transparency, $50.00 each (three month loan)
Scanned Images and Digital Photography:
- 300 dpi (8 x 10) $45.00 per image
- Oversized (for large output) $50.00
